Let's Eat Out!

"Here is a picture of two of our recent converts, Alonso and Dimas. This was taken last night at an El Salvadorian restaurant. We took them out to dinner and it made their day. They were so stoked on life and a little more excited to be a part of the church".
Can't say that I blame them for being excited about the church if they can go out to dinner with two beautiful senoritas!

Happy Birthday Jeanette!

"It turned out to be a fabulous 22nd birthday. The elders and Sis king threw me a surprise birthday party (that's how hard my district works around here). But I really enjoyed it".
What? No Pinata? Jeanette's birthday is April 8th.

A sample of Jeanette's letter on April 7, 2008

Holy Frijoles, ya'll (a little sample of the Rosenberg populations right there in that sentenceOk but can I esplain why yesterday was incredible? Oh I hope I can do this justice. Just keep in mind that on a daily basis I'm learning my role here as a missionary and realizing that I'm not going to be spending every day knocking puertas and handing out cards. I thought that was what I should be doing but a huge part of what we do is keep our new converts active and use them to find other people to teach. Well, exactly that happened yesterday. After conference, I was stoked because I actually talked to the people in the ward more and became good friends with the new converts and had some good laughs with them and was able to not only get my foot in the door with them, but have them swing the door open and I let myself in and helped myself to making a sandwich in their kitchen. Figuratively speaking. It was a good feeling. But Hna King was actually doing missionary work during this and she was frustrated because the people we'd been working with this week weren't keeping commitments, some didn't come to conference like they said they would, Hugo still wasn't keeping his baptismal date, and Jesus, the guy i mentioned before who has a really strong testimony of the gospel but has fear to get baptized seemed to still be in a rut. Not only that but Hna King was called a witch by Hugo. I'll punch the guy later. So we were both suffering a littleOk well after conference we got in the car and went to appts that we had with new contacts. All three weren't home. Our hopes were low. But when one door closes, another opens. We ran into a new convert in the ward who said his daughter was home and that we should go visit her and her live-in boyfriend. Angelica and Jose are their names and they had received missionaries before but didn't show interest. And when we got to the house, this 23 year old lady seemed kind of annoyed that we were there. Ok so long story short, as we were about to end our spiritual thoughts, I asked what desires they had in their lives and that invited the spirit, Angelica cried, and they told us to come by again. Then Jesus called. He wanted us to come visit and we took 5 minutes to pray and prep. We really wanted to get the message across that he needed to be baptized. But when we got there, Jesus was talking to his working buddy Julio who had so many questions about Jesus's beliefs that Jesus invited him to talk with us. And that night we sat outside and taught Julio about prayer, faith, modern prophets, and the like. He was blown away that we knew so much. And even better, Jesus helped answer his questions and bore his testimony which in turn helped Jesus realize he wanted to get baptized. He called us after we left and told us he needs to get baptized to have power. Then he asked me, Hna Lastun, when Hna King leaves, can I come with you to help teach others? He really liked teaching Julio and I'm convinced he's going to be a powerful member. But our prayers were answered. And in ways that we didn't expect. And through my experiences this weekend, i'm starting to see what role I can play being here in Texas. I'm starting to realize that my personality is needed here to bring people closer to Christ.).
